Description
In this workshop participants will explore the application of moving and handling techniques when working with people with dementia. Participants should have attended a moving and handling training course prior to attending this workshop.

Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, participants will have met learning outcome 1.3 of the Knowledge Set for Dementia. Participants will have:
- Some understanding of the effect of the features of dementia on mobility
- Explored the benefits of maintaining the mobility of people with dementia
- Acknowledged the impact a care worker’s interaction skills can have on the process of helping a person with dementia to mobilise
- Identify ways to assist people with dementia to move using a range of communication and practical approaches
