Mental Capacity Act Courses
The Mental Capacity Act (2005) clarifies the law under which decisions are made for those who lack the mental capacity to make decisions for themselves and establishes a framework to guide such decisions. It affects everyone aged 16 and over to empower and protect people who may not be able to make some decisions for themselves, for example, people with dementia, learning disabilities, mental health problems, stroke or head injuries.
Under the Act your organisation has an obligation to ensure appropriate training has been delivered to managers and frontline staff. JPA is working with the Department of Health and the Alzheimer’s Society to develop knowledge and skills in working to the Mental Capacity Act and has a range of learning opportunities including workshops and cascade training resources.
