Learning outcomes
This programme provides knowledge and understanding for the skills to implement the General Social Care Council Code of Practice and for National Occupational Standards in Health and Social Care at level 2; 3; and 4 depending on your role.
On completion of this course participants will have:
- Explored the issues of mental capacity, decision making, right and risks
- An understanding of the background, development and legal context of The Act
- An understanding of the content of the Act- key principles and new roles
- Identified and understood the role of professional staff in the assessment of capacity and determination of best interests within the legal framework
- Discussed the responsibilities of all in implementing the Act, giving consideration to reporting and recording systems

- The Mental Capacity Act 2005- the five key principles
- Definitions including 'Best interests' and Capacity/Incapacity'
- 'Best interests' Vs 'Abuse'

This programme provides knowledge and understanding for the Skills to
implement the General Social Care Council Code of Practice. For those
undertaking National Occupational Standards in Health and Social Care
the workshop provides underpinning knowledge which can be cross
referenced to level 3 and 4 depending on your role.
