This programme provides knowledge and understanding for the skills to implement the General Social Care Council Code of Practice and for National Occupational Standards in Health and Social Care at level 2; 3; and 4 depending on your role.
By the end of this session participants will be able to:
- State the background, development and legal context of The Act
- Clarify key definitions and new roles within the Act
- State the 5 statutory principles
- Explore key changes as a result of the Act
- Identify and understand the role of professional staff and non professionals in the assessment of capacity and determination of best interests within the Legal framework

This programme provides knowledge and understanding for the Skills to
implement the General Social Care Council Code of Practice and for
National Occupational Standards in Health and Social Care. For those
undertaking an NVQ, this module has been cross referenced to Level 2 in
Health and Social Care only. Staff working at level 3 or 4 in Health &
Social Care should cross reference to similar Units.
