Description

In this workshop participants explore issues of elder abuse in care homes. They will examine values and attitudes, develop their skills to recognise bad practice and what constitutes good practice.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this programme, participants will have met learning outcome 1.3; 4.1 and 4.2 of the Knowledge Set for Dementia. Participants will have:

  • Raised awareness of the whole issue of elder abuse in care homes
  • Developed skills to be able to recognise signs and symptoms of elder abuse
  • Examined values and attitudes with regard to working with elder abuse
  • A good working knowledge of what constitutes good practice
  • A clear understanding of how to find information on local policies and procedures
