Description
In this workshop participants explore the Gold Standards Framework for
End of Life Care (DoH 2005) and examine values and attitudes, develop
their skills in caring for people at the end of their life.

Learning outcomes
On completion of this programme, participants will:
- Understand what the GSF is and the standards within the framework
- Be able to define Palliative Care
- Be able to state the main symptoms associated with end of life care and be able to state how these symptoms are managed
- Understand the stages of loss and bereavement
- Identify cultural, spiritual and religious differences associated with death, care of the dying and deceased person
- Identify systems for support of care staff associated with end of life care
- Have an understanding of legal and ethical considerations associated with end of life care
