Description
The Falls Champions Skills Workshop and distance learning module enables participants, who are members of their organisations Falls Prevention team, to demonstrate personal progression in the development and use of the skills associated with Falls Prevention.
The programme for this course includes attendance at a study day and the completion of 3 work-based assignments. Following the successful completion of the assignments, participants will be awarded a competency certificate. This course is linked to the Knowledge Set for Dementia, National Occupational Standards for NVQ Level 4 and to health care benchmarks.

Distance Learning Programme using a merged learning approach with work-based assignments and mentor support.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this programme, participants will have met learning outcome 1.3 of the Knowledge Set for Dementia and have:
- Critiqued outcome measures currently in use
- Designed a Falls Prevention Programme within current national guidelines and recommendations
- Used skills of analysis and evaluation in relation to improving and supporting best practice
- Become equipped to successfully engage in Audit to demonstrate that NICE recommendation 10 is achieved
- Become familiar with additional educational resources
