This one day workshop is for those who have access to the Dementia Awareness Training Resource and who have responsibility for the learning and development of their workforce.

Learning outcomes

This programme provides knowledge and understanding for the skills to implement the General Social Care Council Code of Practice and for National Occupational Standards in Health and Social Care at level 3.

On completion of this workshop, participants will have:

  • Explored the theory and evidence-base underpinning the Dementia Awareness Training Resource
  • Demonstrated personal progression in the development and use of the skills associated with person-centred dementia care
  • Used skills of analysis and evaluation in relation to improving and supporting best practice
  • Identified a range of interventions related to the needs of people with dementia
  • Delivered a short presentation on the role of the Dementia Care Trainer
  • Familiarised themselves with additional educational resources


This programme is recognised by OCR, the NVQ Awarding body, as providing the underpinning knowledge and understanding for the Skills for Care National Occupational Standards for NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care:
