This one day workshop is for those who have access to the Mental Capacity Act Training Resource and who have responsibility for the learning and development of their workforce

Learning outcomes
This programme provides knowledge and understanding for the skills to implement the General Social Care Council Code of Practice and for National Occupational Standards in Health and Social Care at level 3.
On completion of this workshop, participants will have explored the MCA Training Resource and have:
- Discussed the issues of mental capacity, decision making, right and risks
- An understanding of the background, development and legal context of the Act
- An understanding of the content of the Act- key principles and new roles
- Identified and understood the role of professional staff in the assessment of capacity and determination of best interests within the legal framework
- Discussed the responsibilities of all in implementing the Act, giving consideration to reporting and recording systems
- An understanding of the role of the Cascade Trainer with relation to the Act
This programme is recognised by OCR, the NVQ Awarding body, as
providing the underpinning knowledge and understanding for the Skills
for Care National Occupational Standards for NVQ level 4 in Health and
Social Care:
